Our beloved country

I've been thinking to write about our beloved country for quite some time now or as we think of it as our beloved country. Although there are serious questions as to how much do we love our country? The current situation of what is happening around us does not permit us to sit quietly in our homes. The problems of the valley of Swat, the problems of the tribal areas in NWFP, the suicide bombings throughout the country and the other upsetting things that will shock your soul. Where are we going with this? Will it ever end is the question that arises in my mind every now and then whenever I look at the newspaper or news channel. All I see is misery of people dying and being killed by other human beings. Sometimes it comes to my mind that probably the dark ages were better than where we currently stand.
We have been fighting for democracy for last nine years, what has democracy brought upon us it is evident that the problems that the faced have escalated even more. The government is now blaming the previous government as the government before them and as the one before them it is a chain of mockery which has no end to it. A common man who only needs enough food so that he can feed his children and family is unable to do that in current times of hardship how hard he works how much pressure he puts how much force he uses it is all irrelevant because in the end of the day he is unable to feed his family and his children and that is when the problem arises and that is when an average person turns to a crime. This is the point where social boundaries fail. How is one going to stop him from doing anything illegal or criminal then he would give you a perfect example that he has worked all day long has tried on his best to get food for the family honestly but he was unable to do it because some bureaucrat or some technocrat or some politician has taken what was rightfully his.
There are hundreds and thousands of cases in our country on daily basis that reflect the above scenarios. What are we going to do about it what would an average person to about what the common citizen of Pakistan do about it. That is a question that we need to ask ourselves. Only once we have risen up to these questions we will be able to say that YES we love our country. The discussion continues….

Mobile VoIP

This is the latest buzz in the industry, everyone is talking about mobile voice over IP. Companies that have launched their services include truphone, iskoot, mig33 and fring. Most of these are supporting connections to other services with VoIP like connecting to MSN Yahoo! Google talk and others. the communication has come to great lengths nested servers are being deployed using asterisk and are being used by some of the major providers of telecommunication services recently some of the big universities have deployed asterisk for using using the voicemail services.

Most of the mobile VoIP companies have developed platform which they are using pretty decently and I'm making reasonable amount of money from it this is very attractive to the new entrants in the market. Which are eagerly working on similar projects and are trying their best to come in to the competition as soon as possible and grab as much as market should possible. although this is not an easy job to everyone to do but with good planning and commitment, I think it is not the most difficult job in the world. Anywaythese discussions will continue, but for now a little bit on what we're going to do in future.

I recently met a contact who wanted to start a calling card company by deploying asterisk on multiple serversand then linking them together in nested and consolidated on the same platform using openser, which is an engine which can be used to route calls on different asterisk servers also it can be used for load balancing. Coming back to our main purpose of the block which was mainly to write something about how has this can be installed and utilised for various purposes, they will start on our first lesson tomorrow which will guide us on basically how to install our stress on community enterprise operating system (CentOS), then we will install A2Billing and demonstrate how we can run a calling card application. There are other things that begin to using both of them after we have successfully done that in the next few days or so they will move on to the Trixbox, really will perform the same things and steps again and utilise trixbox for the same purposes on the same operating system.

I hope that this will be informative and I thank you for reading.

The TWO Musketeers

I knew I would come back to this issue, I just saw to programmes on Geo TV. Shape both of them were discussing Chief Justice that the deposed-one and the current one. First one because he is the deposed one and the second one was because of the influence which he used to get his daughters papers of the medical college rechecked and reassessed as it goes. The first program I watched 50 minutes perhaps some really nice argument as to why it is only possible for the daughter of the Chief Justice to have the papers reassessed and an ordinary student whose parents cannot have any influence on the chairman of the committee of education can't get their papers rechecked let alone reassessed. Then came the other issue of what can be done about the above who could be punished or could be penalized and what are the consequences and why this was done, in the first place.

The second program was more about the constitutional front the arrival of the deposed Chief Justice in Lahore today. Huge gatherings of the lawyers who probably didn't attend the court today waiting for the deposed Chief Justice to arrive. Although I didn't listen to what he wanted to say or was saying or what he really wants apart from being the chief justice from the deposed Chief Justice. I have all my doubts that he would ever be the Chief Justice, but considering what goes on in my beloved country anything is possible. The in my heart and soul from the families who lost loved ones because of all the misery this dilemma has brought upon us. National party activists killing people off MQM; hooligans of MQM rerunning lives of National party activists. What is this whether we stand with all this, and this was not the purpose of the country this is not the reason our forefathers got liberated, I fail to understand that would be realized this fact that by shedding more but you cannot I should rephrase that by shedding more glad you can never achieve peace and influencing on never because it has never happened in history and I fail to understand how would we achieve anything by killing our own brothers.

Although there is much more to come, most of us would really like to see an end to this one way or the other. I don't see anyone who likes wouldn't apart from the notorious criminals pushing the probably thrown away in hellfire. There is no reason why such people should be allowed on the streets where we let our loved ones go out, play, educate, shop and to the normal day-to-day business. I hereby requests the deposed Chief Justice and the current Chief Justice to end this dilemma which the country is facing. Although there are other factors involved in this who will really decide the fate of the Justices, but at least everyone should have a say on the topic. I would leave this by the only thing that may Allah give us strength to face all the issues that we could only do either because of ourselves or someone else or countrymen to honour, honesty and responsibility.

The honourable Chief Justice

Although this blog is out of context but I really want to write something about this. As this is really a hot issue in Pakistan. Opposition supports them the government doesn't, it's a mess. everywhere you look you will hear people talking about lawyers, the deposed Chief Justice, the Punjab government, and the Federal government; Which are not in agreement with each other on the issue.now there is going to be another Long March in March if I'm not wrong. I know it makes your head go round and round and round. Lawyers arguing accusing the other party of doing wrong. Sometimes you just don't know who to believe. I am always been a fan of Gen Musharraf. But this is I think one of the mistakes he made during his time in power. This has been left hanging and God knows how long will this linger on.

I have recently had to go to Court, and I couldn't imagine that the amount of people waiting for their lawyers to turn up. Eventually most of the cases over and adjourned because the lawyers were not available as they were busy in the strike somewhere on the other end of the city. The current recession and the situation back in the face in our beloved country I really do not think that we can afford such issues. They need to be sorted out as soon as possible. Another thing that drives me to words itself is the current decision by the Supreme Court which came out in favor of Miss Farah Dogar. I haven't had a chance to read it myself but I have heard from reliable sources that it includes things which has basically given special power to the vice chancellor for awarding any number of marks he/she pleases to a specific student ignoring a lot of other services have worked really hard but are denied because the vice chancellor can do what he wants to do. It is a heart stopper for some. I really don't want to write more about this.

You know just another blog !

hello hello,

People of the world what's up. I can't think of anything to write about at the moment. I don't know what to write. I'm blank. Sometimes, people you think our really really close to you will tend out to be the ones who hurt you. Something similar has happened to me yesterday which I definitely don't want to write about. Well coming back to the telecoms we should start something on asterisk. WHERE Shall we start from. Blank again ? I guess so! Anyway we will come back to it later.

Last week I was traveling and I was in Lahore I met a guy from a company called Micro works I don't want to disclose his name at the moment but I said that he is currently working for whether or not currently working for a but actually owns a local loop license but looking at the authority's website I don't see the company which was mentioned to me and guide what equipment which is normally used for a grey telephony. So what could it be couldn't really be gray telephony or was the guy telling the truth and it was something else. I don't know. I can't really comment on that. But as far as I am concerned I think the equipment will probably be used in gray telephony. I'm still investigating with my Sherlock Holmes hat on.

As I mentioned earlier I am totally blank I have no idea what I'm just written and why I have written but let's see that my mind come back to blogging and I'll come back and start writing again on some off the productive things that I want to do with this blog. Have a nice day !

Access Promotion Charge

Access Promotion Charge or commonly known as APC. This is a charge that PTA collects from all the long-distance and international providers off the telephony in Pakistan. They have recently increased it to 7.5 cents a minute which will result in anyone living outside the country and who wants to call home will pay more for the calls. This has been a roller coaster ride for most of the operators because the rates went as high as $.15 a minute in May 2008 and then they tumbled back down to around 5 cents a minute. Currently hovering between 5.5 cents to 7.5 cents.

With the increase in the APC charge these rates are set to go again up to 12.5 cents and the cost of call will probably double for most of the people calling home. This definitely brings in more revenue, but then the level of grey telephony that goes up because of that is tremendous. This is an open debate some people think that this might be good for economy and something that this would bring in more money but this is basically a tax that the government has introduced and people living outside the country have to bear this.

Although most of the LDI operators are not followed & the instructions given to them by PTA normally fall on deaf ears, and the traffic is routed through grey channels looking to provide service and a lot of other ways. So let's hope that this would soon be abolished, or at least brought down to where it was, around 2.5 cents a minute in 2006

Introduction

Hello friends, family, and whoever is reading this. It is the first time I'm writing something on Internet I'm not really sure how will it go and where would this end up. I plan is to go in the right direction and probably I will be using this blog for a training on VoIP and other technical things that I worked within the past and I will be working on some of them in future.

For starters I'll be posting something regarding asterisk open source telephony business apart from that I use most of the time for different communications solutions that I provide. I will give a step-by-step instruction on how to install, implement and make it all work. After we have successfully installed asterisk, we will be working on asterisk2billing which is a calling card platform and provides us with various other features, like callback, prepaid and postpaid billing a feature, and many more which we will be looking in detail as we go through all the details.

I will also be discussing some of the current issues that we are facing in VoIP industry in PAKISTAN and how it is affecting the business community. Some of the ups and downs of the industry and the main players who are controlling the show at the moment. So I guess that is the starters and I'll be back to write more later.
